I stopped my raw food / exercise regime ( again...sigh... ) March 1st, 2012. I was at 175 lbs. (I had about 30-40 lbs. left too lose) Why did I do that? Because it had consumed me. I was making it in to an idol and I had seen that. It wasn't healthy.
Originally my plan was to take 2-4 weeks 'off' and get re-focused, centered again and continue on.
Obviously that plan did not pan out the way I wanted it too.
Here I am, March 1, 2012 with the ever radiant Penni Shelton of Raw Food Rehab.
And here I am, as of yesterday:
Current weight: 226.4 lbs.
Current bust: 46 in.
Current waist: 43 in.
Current hips: 52 in.
I gained 51.4 lbs. in 5 months time. That's 10 lbs. a month! :-( Not cool!
I have messed up, I have learned from my mistakes and I am picking myself up, dusting myself off once again, and moving on, again. I refuse to be a victim of this and feel sorry for myself (I don't).
I actually wanted to get back into raw veganism in July but couldn't as finances wouldn't allow it.
Finances still aren't all that great, so I cannot do 100% raw vegan like I want too. But I will do what I can with what we have and make the best of it until finances do get better and I can go 100% again.
I will tell you one thing, eating the SAD (standard american diet) had me feel so zombified, it usually does.
I hate consuming the flesh of animals again. That's been bothering me again as well. Please spare me the whole 'God gave us animals to eat' speech. Thank you. :)
Unless you have went raw yourself, you will never experience the difference. The difference being freedom, a clear mind, a new direction, new goals / dreams, you see the world in a totally different light because you are no longer asleep . You literally feel like you can fly.
I've also went back to exercising. I'm alternating between the gym and Leslie Sansone / Richard Simmons DVD'S (yes you read that right, I said Richard Simmons. He makes exercising fun, like it should be). Eventually I will move back to Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels, but I need to work my way back to that. It's been 6 months since I last exercised.
When I get back to 175 lbs. I will need to enlist the help of other raw foodies so I don't' screw up, yet again. I want to make it too 135-140 lbs. this time.
So, this is where I am at.
Love,
Dawn
P.S. Yum! That is all :)

I am so sorry that things have been so rough! I know where your at...seriously. I went vegetarian in Feb/March of 2011 and while I lost about 40lbs I can't break through past a certain number and now I'm expecting soon (in 7 weeks). I did learn that the more protein I consume (not animal based) the better and more amazing I feel...but things like kale and sesame make me feel horrible. So, its a journey! Hugs! You'll make it...we both will!
I feel for you! I do so much better when I am at least 75% or more Raw. I feel so much worse and am so much unhealthier if I eat the SAD diet. Yet, due to finances and dumb cravings I get away from Raw and inevitably regret it! With Abva's help we can both be healthier and happier enjoying his bounty!
Blessings,
Joycelyn
you can do it! hubby and I are definitely eating more veggies and fruits and adding seafood more and less chicken and beef. The Orthodox fasts have helped us a lot to get in the habit of eating less meat and less in general. we've started to play tennis and so hopefully I can get out of this plateau I've been on for the past year. Blessings!
Restrictive dieting never worked for me, and to be honest, the struggle you have is the same as just about any other person out there.
God created our bodies to require saturated fats and animal proteins.
Our cells are 50% saturated fat!
And 9/10ths of the cells in our body are bacteria cells that require fermented foods.
A traditional foods "diet" is very healing to all that enter into it.
Raw dairy, saturated fats (studies that say they cause weight gain and heart issues are all falsified) lacto-fermented veges, bone broths, etc. heal.
The body should never be forced to lose weight, as the extra weight is just a symptom of what is often a severe endocrine depression. Adrenal fatigue and low thyroid, along with a leaky gut will always trump dieting.
Heal those things, and the weight will resolve itself.
Actually God did not create our bodies to devour animals and their secretions.
If you want to get Biblical (which I asked in my blog post not too), animal consumption did not occur until after the fall.
Adam and Eve never let the carcass of an animal touch their lips.
Had the fall not occurred we all would be vegetarians, not eating our animal friends. We'd all be a lot healthier too. No obesity, heart attacks, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc, etc.
One doesn't have to eat animal flesh or their secretions in order to get saturated fat in their diet.
Fruits and vegetables have saturated fat in them, although avocados, coconut, seeds, nuts, and non GMO soy have higher amounts.
Raw vegan foods does not include raw milk.
Animal milk is not for humans to drink anyway, it's for the baby calves.
I am not forcing myself to lose weight neither am I restricting myself. I can eat as much fruit, vegetables as I want, when I want. Seeds and nuts every couple days.
I don't starve myself and I am not limited in my food.
When I am hungry, I eat. It's really simple.
I already know I have low thyroid function and a little bit of adrenal fatigue, and it always happens when I go back to eating animals, dairy, junk food, enriched pastas, etc.
Raw food and daily exercise, along with prayer, water and sunshine takes care of that problem for me though. :)
And since many people do not know this, one doesn't have to consume animals for protein.
Just in fruit alone, one can get their daily protein intake:

Other sources of protein:
Beans pack a punch of protein. White beans and lentils contain about 19 g protein per cup, providing many essential amino acids such as isoleucine and lysine. Black beans contain 15.2 g per cup, while kidney, lima, black-eyed, navy and pinto beans contain about 14 g per cup.
Broccoli is another vegetable that contains an abundant amount of protein. Its protein content is 34 percent of its dry matter, offering 4.6 g of protein per cup of cooked broccoli. Cauliflower, a cousin of broccoli, is not too far behind at 27 percent, or about 3 g per cup.
Spinach
Known for its excellent nutrient profile, spinach is also a good source of protein. Cooked spinach contains 5.3 g of protein per cup, while frozen or canned, drained spinach contains slightly more at 6 g per cup.
Corn, artichokes, and potatoes are other vegetables that contain a decent amount of protein. Corn provides about 5 g per cup. Artichokes might take a while to cook, but are worth it -- a medium artichoke contains about 4.2 g of protein per cup. A potato with its skin provides about 5 g of protein; removing the skin drops its protein content by 2 grams. Sweet potatoes have about 3 g of protein per potato.
Nuts and seeds have protein in them too, so as you can see I don't lack in that department. :)
thank you dawn so much for your comments on healthy alternatives! wish you and I lived closer so that we can help each and encourage one another in our eating and exercise habits. blessings!
I'm will you sister! I too have to get back on the RAW food. My issue is getting creative. I'm so bored after some time. You can do it!!
christianhippie,
The internet has exploded with tons of free raw food recipes. It's up to us to utilize them. :)
I wish I had a dehydrator though. :) But since I don't, I do what I can.
Money is also very tight for us, so I'm not making elaborate meals just yet. Keepin' it simple for now. :)
