Okay, I will stop procrastinating and get this blog out already. :-)

I have been putting it off all week but figured while the dishes dry I might as well type!
Robert is at work this morning and I am trying to make some semblance in the kitchen. There just isn't enough cabinets in the kitchen and the ones that are there are narrow.
We have those build it your self white shelves you can by at Wal-Mart or Target which I was going to use for my pen palling / scrap booking items, but the kitchen stuff takes precedence. :-)
We were really spoiled with lots of cabinets and closet spaces in Germany. :-)~ But being with limited spaces here in Texas allow me to par down on things and pretty much have only the bare necessities that I need, so praise the Lord for that!
I will be going to church this evening. I can't wait! I actually haven't found a church to call home yet, just going to the one I visited when I came here in July as it is kind of 'home' to me since I did get saved in that church organization several years ago. But, I don't think it's where the Lord will have me be permanently.
Once things calm down I will be able to visit churches and see where the Lord will have me serve Him.
It's all about Him anyway, not about me and how I feel. :-)
Well, we have looked everywhere and we can't find the title to our car! Eeeeek!
We kind of need that to you know, register the thing here.
We already got stopped by the police and he was really nice thank God as we explained our situation. Our German tags and insurance are not expired but we have to get the car registered here in Texas, can't be driving around on US/German tags!
So, we decided to rent a car for a week because the next policeman that could stop us may not be so nice, know what I mean?
We called the place that gave us our title originally this past Friday and they said they can't mail another title because we only get one, but they are mailing us a paper for a lien release on the car stating that it's ours. The person said we will be able to get our tags with it, but said it would take 7 days to get it, hence the reason for the rental car.
Robert has put in for 3 job positions but didn't hear back from any of them. He doesn't have school tomorrow so we will probably go around and look for more places. I have been looking on the Internet and in the paper for him, then I read the jobs I think he would like and off we go. It's been fun. :-)
He has made a decision that after this semester of college ends (early December) he is not going back till August 2009 when the VA (Veterans Affairs) actually will pay him housing allowance and I believe books as well as tuition.
Right now the VA is dragging their feet in paying us and Robert has to constantly call them to make sure all the paperwork is squared away and they aren't going to give us the full amount at first...you know, it's just nuts!
Every soldier gets money taken out of their paychecks from day one for them to go to college and when they do go, it's a hassle and nothing goes right!
This semester has cost us out of pocket $4,400! $4,000 just for the semester and $400 for books and supplies.
Oh, did I mention that it's $109 just for a parking sticker to park in their precious parking lot...that's if you can get a space!
And where is the VA as they should be paying us for that? Making excuses as to why we haven't gotten money yet.
That took a huge chunk out of our savings that we weren't expecting.
But yeah, it's better Robert finishes this semester and then just goes to work full time instead.
Well it's time for me to go tackle more clutter in the kitchen. And boxes...sigh...but who knows, maybe the title is in one of those!
The Lord bless and keep you. Be safe (esp. if you are in the path of the hurricane).

Our Melissa had an awful time getting her benefits for school and it ended up that she just got other grants and loans, much less of a headache.
Praying you find your title to the car, you can request a duplicate title, we have.

I don't understand why you couldn't get a duplicate title... Where was the car originally registered?
And thanks for the heads up on the VA college thing. Bob didn't sign up for the GI Bill when he enlisted, but the new one that just got passed is sounding awesome.
Sorry things aren't all smooth for you, but "count it all joy" for you are growing a lot in it.

Good luck with finding a new church! Has Robert thought about taking the civil service exam and trying to get like post office job? Or what about a security guard? Good luck to him.

Sounds like you are busy! We had problems while in TX with the military ... the police only stopped me once, but he told me I needed to get TX plates even though we were only there for a few months. Thankfully we left soon after that.

Thanks for the warnings about VA/GI Bill. My dh will be out of the military and HOME this december. We are excited! He plans to do more schooling, so it's good to know the VA will probably drag their feet with the paperwork.

No church for us either and we've been here for about a year. We do like one that's about an hour away and we visit that as often as we can. It's a 'Charity' church. It can be really hard not having a church home and strong Christian fellowship close by.

God bless you as you seek His will.

In Christ,
Joanne

If you contact the state where your car is titled......they can provide a duplicate title. You have to pay a small fee..........but it can be done. GOOD LUCK! We lost one several years ago when we moved from Ft Ben to WV. It took a couple weeks but we received it!

What a headache. Moving and getting settled can be such a daunting task, and it doesn't help I'm sure when the VA adds more stress on things than help.

But it is good to hear from you again.
