Just thought I would come on here and let you lovely folks know I am still alive.
We won't have internet access for awhile as AT&T seems to not be very helpful in getting us set up with phone and internet (like hanging up on us after putting us on hold for 15 minutes).
We are at the Atlanta Bread Comapny right now as they have free Wi-Fi (haven't found the library yet...it's somewhere around here...).
We finally left that unsightly hotel on the 11th of July and moved in our home.
We are still getting settled in.
The movers came on the 11th but....some of our stuff seemed to have grown legs and walked away in Germany. :-(
We are missing my whole cookbook collection, pieces for our hat rack, all of Robert's drawing markers (they are altogether about $2,000 or more), Robert's Wii games, and 7 of his DVD box sets.
The good thing is we can file a claim and turn it in and we get money for what was lost.
We both know it's just stuff and it can be replaceable so we aren't freaking out over it, it's just really wrong that this happens. Maybe the military should begin doing background checks on their moving companies huh?
We still don't have our car yet. We took the 1st rental back on the 11th and got another one (a blue Kia Spectrum I think that's what it's called) which is supposed to be turned back in the 17th, but we will have to keep it one more week.
Our car will be here next week! Wooohoooo!
For some reason the a/c on the top floor of our home isn't forcing out as much cold air as it should be so we have been sleeping in the living room. :-)
We'll have to call on that this week, to, ummm...I guess the HOA? Who knows? :-)
I am hoping to get out to church this week. Oh my, I have missed fellowship so bad! I can't wait to get in contact with the nearby Pastor and hopefully will be able to attend service this Thursday...God willing.
Robert has gotten his class schedule and will begin classes August 25th.
We got our water turned on last week which of course is a wonderful blessing and everything works well in the home except that upstairs a/c. Maybe gotta change the filter?
Our couch and dressers should be coming this week. :-) Hooray!
Next week we are going to try to head out to Oklahoma for a few days. We can't wait!!!!!!
Robert just filled out a job application here at the Atlanta Bread Company as they are hiring and the manager came out after we were done with lunch and guess what????? He hired Robert as assistant manager!!!! He begins on the 24th!!! How cool is that!!!!! :-)
We have driven around Cedar Hill and Mansfield getting lost and getting to know the places. Mansfield is gorgeous! Very well maintained!
Today we might go find Irving and that way I can go find my church out there. :-)
I know some of you have asked questions and I thank you for asking them. I will get to them once we have more time since we don't have our own Internet access. :-)
Well, I don't know when I will be back online...hopefully soon, but I just wanted to let you all know I am still breathing!
Love to you all. Please be safe my ladies!!! I look forward to chatting with you all again soon!!!
Hugs,
Dawn

so glad you are well !
Oh my goodness...I don't have your pads done yet...how does the time fly!
Send me a note to let me know when you are coming. I have some of the components cut and/or sewn, but had to buy more fabric, which is ready to cut.
Hugs (soon)!
Anna
I am so sorry that you guys are missing some of your belongings. :(
August 25th my son starts Kindergarden and I'm starting a new semester of college around that time too. I have to get through this summer class first!
Good luck with everything!
Glad to hear from you! Sounds like things are working out well for you kids!
Thanks for updating us!
Oh how wonderful that he was hired on the spot. What a blessing.
It's great to hear an update!!
Congrats to Robert on the Asst. Manager job at the bread co! That's just too cool! The manager must like ex-military folk!!
We have friends from Norway due any time now today... and after they go home two of my cousins from PA are coming up to Orkney for a visit as well! This'll be a fun couple of weeks.
All is well here. So glad all is well in Texas! What church are you going to attend??
I hope you'll be very happy in the Metroplex! I was born in Dallas, and lived there 'til I was 35 or so. Probably would still be there if it wasn't for all that nasty traffic!
Love,
Kate.
Thank you for the update! Keep strong and hang in there. Everything will fall into place soon.
Many blessings sent to you!
Christine
it sounds like the freon leaked out to me :) hope you get it fixed soon!
Congratulations on that's going on with your settling in, Robert's schooling and job! Wow! That's really awesome! Sorry to hear about the missing stuff. :( I hate being robbed and I agree, its just stuff, but I always feel violated. Nice insurance you have though! :) Be well sis!
Hi Dawn! Happy Birthday to you! LOVE YA! I'm glad to hear that your in the U.S. now! Blessings!
Jolene
