Pictures and musings from Texas

We saw some awesome clouds from the plane.

This store is the most greatest place ever! LOL. I could have easily dropped $100 on CD's here but I didn't. Only spent about $50. :-) For those of you who don't know what this store is, it sells new and used books, CD's, records, DVD's, videos, and magazines at low prices. Their used stuff is in good condition too which makes it a blessing. I look forward to going here many times once we get to Texas. I told my mom on the phone that she would love this place too.

2 pictures of Detroit

This Christian bookstore was alright.

A waterfall at ...you guess it...McDonalds.

Us fooling around at Hobby Lobby. Did I mention that's another store I can live at? :-)

The future college of my hubby! Very big campus I will say!

Six Flags was 5 minutes from our hotel room. It's right on the Interstate so it was neat driving by it all the time and looking at the rides.

In Target.

Our rental car...2008 Chevy Cobalt. Sweeeeeet! LOL.

The kitchen floor at one of the houses we looked at. Love the look!

Robert expressing his artistic talents at the resturant featured below.

One word: Yum!

Another word: Drool...lol.

Waiting for the realtor

A bedroom in another house we saw.

Love this place. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's a Christian bookstore / homeschool store. It's awesome. Went their twice.

Guess where this is???? Hee hee hee. Went to 3 or 4 of them.

Oh how I missed their pretzels....

Another awesome Christian bookstore...Hurst Texas.

Waiting for the realtor

What we looked like when we got off the plane March 30th. No sleep and on a plane for 11.5 hours makes us exhausted..but ...we were in America and soon that exhaustion was forgotten about!

Waiting for the bus to take us to the car rental place. No Robert didn't bring that hat with him. What happened was our flight from Amsterdam to DFW was the maiden flight (first flight ever) for them and they made a big deal out of it with news people there, catering, gifts (hats and mugs ...which I left mine conviently at the hotel...lol) and a show. Plus people were clapping for us as we got off the plane saying 'welcome to America'....lol. I felt like and imigrant...lol.

Inside the resturant below.

Some wonderful mexican food!

The inside of a mall!!!!!!! Didn't buy anything except the pretzel from Auntie Anne's but it was nice to walk and get exercise from being cramped in a plane for 11.5 hours. :-)

Sooooo...here are some pictures from the trip. Now we didn't take pics. of everywhere we went, but almost. The pics. we didn't get were the ones of our hotel (LaQuinta Inn), Whataburger, Hobby Lobby, Babies R Us, Dollar Tree and maybe one or two other places but you USA folks already know what those places look like :-)

Most of the houses we looked at were foreclosuers and 2 were being sold by a seller. The ones being sold by a seller were in the best condition. There was only about 3 forclosed houses that were in okay condition and wouldn't need too much work, but the rest of the houses were really trashed (walls and doors were taken a sledgehammer too), house shifting cracks you can fit your hand through, nasty animal smells that made you want to run away screaming, windows busted out. It was quite interesting to say the least.

Even Beverly our realtor was appaled that people would damage a house so bad before leaving it and as a realtor, she has seen it all, so now she has new stuff to add to her list of what she's seen. :-) She was so nice to us, and not in a fake, I want your money type of way, but she was real. She picked us up each time we went house hunting and we just had some good laughs in the car.

I didn't get a chance obviously to get pictures of the inside of our new home, so you all will have to wait till July for that. I will post pictures of it all empty and then when we get our stuff in. :-)

I was hoping to meet 3 friends of mine...2 are bloggers and one I met on a Yahoo group but things didn't follow through...mainly because of our limited time in Texas. But I did get to talk to 2 of the 3 ladies on the phone and that was neat.

I also was trying to go to a Thursday night church service at one of the churches I know of in Irving Texas but didn't get a chance to either as time flew by and I didn't have a chance to even contact the Pastor to let him know I was there. Oh well...in July :-)

We drove around alot and got lost on purpose so we can better familarize ourselves with the area.

We wre so spoiled in Texas. I mean, we got to get a slurpee or fountain drink at all hours of the morning, same thing with Walmart.

We didn't have to show our ID cards or get our car inspected and people were extremely helpful when we asked for directions. They didn't look at us in disgust and call us 'stupid Americans'.

We had freedom and it was nice.

Now we are back in Germany...severely jet lagged and sleeping at weird hours or not sleeping at all...lol. We came back to it snowing of all things! In Texas it was in the 70's and windy.

Well the husband has awoken from one of his naps and we are going out to eat and grocery shop, so I will see ya later alligator!!!

Hugs from a very sleep deprieved soul <><

That's awesome y'all will have a mardel there! I love mardels! There's one in town near where I live (ok, about an hour away...)
You may not know this, but Hobby Lobby is Mardels' parent company. You might notice Hobby Lobby playing Christian music occasionally - they are a Christian based company.

Yippee-skidoo! You got a house! Don't worry too much about not calling and such~ No harm done. We had a busy week anyways. We'll have some quality time soon enough when you settle state-side.

Ohhhh...I love Macaroni Grill! My hubby and I ate there after our wedding. We were starving (everyone except the happy couple eats the buffet food at wedding receptions.) So we have fond memories. :)

Sounds like a wonderful, whirlwind trip. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Macaroni Grill is one of my favorite places to eat...unfortunately we have none around us where we are at. Congratulations on the house...I look forward to seeing more pictures of it when when you are back. :) Ann'Re
