I say semi home made because I made the dough from scratch, but used a can of pizza sauce I had sitting in the cabinet, and of course used store bought mozzarella cheese and pepperoni that I had in the freezer. I forgot to fold the ends of the dough in to form that crust because for 30 minutes all I heard were children screaming and whining behind my apartment (we have a play ground in the back) and that's all I head was constant howling and screeching and by the time I realized my mistake the dough was already hot and everything. But regardless of that mistake, I thought the pizza turned out rather well. I could have added more pepperoni but I didn't know. :)
The real test was the taste of course. Robert liked it and so did I. He said it reminded him of the pizza served in his high school. I was like "is that a good or bad thing?" LOL. He said it was a good thing. :)
We have a few slices leftover for lunch tomorrow. So, I am glad this turned out well. I have other pizza dough recipes I will try out in the future, but this was my first one and I thought I would blog about it.
If you want the recipe it's really easy:
* 2 cups all purpose flour
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
*1/2 teaspoon salt
* 2/3 cup milk
* 6 tablespoons vegetable oil
Preheat the oven to 425. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, milk, and oil. Stir vigorously until the mixture pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Gather the dough together and press into a ball. Knead the dough in the bowl 10 times until smooth. Flatten the dough evenly on a pizza pan or baking sheet, turning up and pinching or pleating the edge 1/2 inch all around. Add your favorite toppings and bake for 30 minutes or until the toppings are done.
That's it. Really simple. I got the recipe from on of my Amish cookbooks. :)
