It has been raining non stop here in Germany for 2 days! I think the autumn / fall season is here early. The high today didn't even reach 60 degrees, same as yesterday. I am not complaining! I love fall and winter. Oh, I love them!!! ;) I am all excited just thinking about the months ahead...the cooler weather, the changing leaves, hot cocoa, homemade bread, soups, pumpkins, and the holidays!! Yippee skippy!!! LOL...I am about to jump put of my seat...ROFL...Maria picked me up at 9:45 a.m. and took me to the commissary so I can get a few things and to drop Tony, her step son off their as he works there. Maria told me to take as long as I like, but I wasn't in there, maybe 15 minutes. The selection in the commissary isn't much, and I pretty much knew what I wanted already so I went straight for it. Can you believe they have Halloween candy out over here? I don't celebrate that holiday of course, but the thought that soon the aisles will be packed with Halloween stuff, just argggghhhh! Yeah, that....LOL.
So, Maria helped carry my groceries up stairs and after putting them away, I went online for a bit before going downstairs to ask my neighbor for a ride to the bank on base. He didn't have a problem with it of course, for which I am greatfull and he is a nice young man. His wife just had their 2nd son on August 2nd but she's back in the States and he's here in Germany, so he's kind of bummed he hasn't seen his son yet.
So, I got to the bank and thanked him for the ride, got some US money and Euro out and walked over to the auto place (this time I had my umbrella with me). I paid for the US part of the recipt but when I tried to pay for the Euro part, they couldn't make change (the total was €60 and I had €70 on me). So...I really did not want to walk all the way back to the bank, so I went to the ACS (Army Community Service) building and asked the women at the desk if she had 2 €10 bills for my €20. She said "no" even before she bothered to look in her wallet and went back to this conversation she was inthralled in before I walked in. Kind of rude...
Then I walked a few steps over to the library and bingo! Someone could make change for me! Woooohooooo Praise God! I was so greatfull.
I return to the auto place, pay my euro, and the nice man that helped me out with a tow yesterday was there (he wasn't there earlier) and we chatted for a moment. He said that he put $10 in gas for me in the car (which is another blessing I am thankfull for since I was wondering how I would make it to the gas station on an empty tank), and he said they put in a new relay...not necessairly a relay switch. And he told me to keep an eye on that gas tank.
I thanked him and left, and went right over and filled the gas tank up. And now here I am trying this, waiting for some pancake and sausage on a stick thing to get warmed up (lunch, even though it's 2:16 p.m.). I got the meat taken out for dinner, and who knows if I have to pick up my husband or not from work. I guess he will call if he needs a ride.
We still plan on going to Wiesbaden tomorrow. I want to go to their commissary and get a few things, plus Robert wants to go to the base exchange.
This week has been a little nuts, so I haven't gotten a menu done for what I am going to cook. I guess between now and the 15th, we'll be winging it with older recipes. Then on the 15th, is payday so I will get a menu and grocery list compiled before then.
Well I am going to check if I am burning my lunch...LOL. I hope each and every one of you are having a blessed Friday.
Hallelujah for the weekend!
God Bless <><
