A new way of living, a new me.

Me at my heaviest.

Me 18.2 lbs. lighter as of April 16th, 2010. :) (Please excuse the smudge stains on the shirt...it seems I was having a fight with the water and it won...lol).
*
March 15th - 16th began a new healthier lifestyle for me. I was at an unhealthy weight and I knew I was a likely candidate for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart attack, etc.
I just got tired of being fat and well, unhealthy.
*
So, I decided to make a big change in my life March 15th/16th. I stopped drinking soda / sugary drinks. Stopped eating fried foods and junk foods, stopped adding salt to everything I ate and began pretty much a fruit, vegetable, grain way of eating. With a little organic chicken or ground turkey once per week.
Of course upping my water intake as well.
*
I am not taking any diet supplements.
*
I walk 35-90 minutes 3-4 times per week.
*
Since March 16th, I have lost 18.2 lbs. , lost 3 inches in my bust, 6 inches in my waist, and 1 inch in my hips. (None of my cape dresses fit me anymore, so for the time being I am back to skirts and tops, till I drop all the weight, then will get the dresses re-done).
*
I have enough energy to move a mountain (that might be from the flax seed I sprinkle on my cereal / oatmeal in the morning though), and my husband has joined me 2-2.5 weeks ago after seeing my results and has lost 8.7 lbs so far. I am so proud of him, he's doing so well. :)
*
I still have 65-70 lbs. to lose till I reach my goal weight. I know I will reach it, just got to keep motivated.
*
I just thought I would share this little milestone with you all. :)
*
Shabbat Shalom!

Dawn, how wonderful! I'm so happy for you. May God continue to bless your healthy efforts :-)

I'm also exercising, changing my eating habits, and losing weight. It's getting expensive though as I have to have my clothes taken in! That's one downside...

Well done. It isn't easy to give up all the things that really tickle our tastebuds. May the G*d give you the strength to carry on!

Dawn, congratulations! As Lillias said,"It isn't easy to give up all the things that really tickle our tastebuds." I am very overweight and because I am older than either you or Michelle I have adult onset diabetes and arthritis - made worse by my weight.

Because I am now disabled it is very difficult for me to lose weight. I am writing this as a warning for others: lose weight while you can exercise and before you have symptoms.

One thing that I do, which I wouldn't recommend to others, but it what helps me through the week is to eat some "tickle the tastebuds" foods e.g. bread and butter on Sunday.

Just one thing, Dawn. I wonder if you are getting enough protein; you might need to increase your meat consumption or take an iron supplement - based on blood test results of course.

All the best. Vicki

Hi, Dawn. My name is Christina, I just stumbled across your blog while searching for Paul Washer quotes, and I really like what you have to say. It's very inspirational :) This parciular blog caught my attention, because I happen to know a lot about nutrition! It is my passion :) It seems like you're doing great, but if you ever need any help or just want some more information on yummy, healthy foods, feel free to contact me- chrissy1106@earthlink.net is my email. I have a blog site as well, but I don't use it much, but you can write me there too if you want. God Bless :)
