Christmas day 2007 I sat around my Christmas tree opening presents and thought 'what in the world are we celebrating, JESUS, wasn't even born on this day?'

Who knew from that day on, He would have His hand on my heart and mind to find out the truth.

As a society we have been led to believe that we don't know the exact date of Yahshua's birth and that is what is ingrained in our minds year after year.
December 25th has been the 'accepted' time and people accept it as Bible truth.

There are some of us though, who get tired of being spoon fed the same old diatribe year after year so we take it upon ourselves to find the truth of a matter. It's amazing the things that happen when you say 'Yahweh, I want to know the truth, show it to me' and He ends up showing it alright, in a big way. =)

And that's what I did concerning this subject. All you need is your Bible and some basic history about Judaism and you can easily see that Yahshua was not born December 25th, or even in the winter season.

There were gods who were born on December 25th but it sure wasn't the Messsiah.

"Well if JESUS wasn't born December 25th, when was He born smarty pants?' you may be saying...

The Feast of Tabernacles / Sukkot which are fall (normally around September) holidays.
Here's my proof....

* During Yahweh's birth, shepherds were tending their flocks in the field, at night (Luke 2:8).
That alone rules out His birth in the winter.
The time of pasturing in Palestine, begins (according to Talmudists) in March, and lasts till November, when the herds are brought in from the fields and kept under shelter till the close of February (Phillip Schaff - History of the Christian Church).
The flocks are indoors during December because it's too cold.

Mary stayed with Elizabeth for 3 months, which was until the birth of John.

Since a full pregnancy term is 41 weeks, and 27 weeks makes up the first six months (two trimesters), which is exactly the time from the discourse of Abiyah to Chanukah, that leaves 14 weeks to accomplish the last trimester and bring the pregnancy to full term. There are exactly 14 weeks from Chanukah to Passover.
John the Baptist was born at Passover.
He was circumcised on the eighth day, which would be the last day of Passover/Feast of Unleavened Bread.

*Nisan , when John was born, is the 1st month of the Hebrew year.
Mary conceived 6 months after Elizabeth conceived, which means Yeshua's birth would have to come 6 months after John's birth, during the 7th Hebrew month called Tishri.
Since we know that John was born at Passover/Feast of Unleavened Bread, we learn the time of Yeshua's birth by counting 6 Hebrew months from Passover.
The Feast of Unleavened Bread begins on Nisan 15 and 6 months later Tabernacles begins on Tishri 15.
Yahshua was born on the first day of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles).

YHWH commanded that Israel should observe it 8 days. They were to build temporary dwellings called a sukkah (booths) and dwell in them.
These sukkahs were erected to house families with some bare comforts and food for the eight days. Food was placed in a stall or a crib for storage in the tabernacle. The KJV Bible calls this food crib a manger.
Yeshua was not born in a barn, but rather in a temporary tabernacle which had been built for the celebration.
This celebration would explain why there wasn't any room at the inn. It's because folks had come from all over to observe this Feast and had taken all the rooms.

* An AWESOME tidbit of info...turn with me to John 1:14. It says "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth".
That world "dwelt", in the Greek means:
to fix one's tabernacle, have one's tabernacle, abide (or live) in a tabernacle (or tent), tabernacle

Would you like someone celebrating your birthday, when it's not your birthday at all?
The Feast of Tabernacles / Sukkot is about celebrating His birth, celebrate His glorious coming then, in the fall.

"Keep Christ in Christmas!" He has NOTHING to do with Christmas my friends. You do know Christmas is nothing more than a pagan holiday that's been "Christianized", right?
Celebrate the day if you want, but let's stop dragging our Messiah into a pagan holiday.
Why not do a search and find out how Christmas originated, or better yet, if you haven't already, watch the videos I posted in my last blog post.
It's a known fact that the early church did not have anything to do with "Christmas". That "holiday" didn't come into the Roman church till the 4th century.
Our Saviour's birth got sucked into all that mess which has now morphed into the Christmas that we know today.
So, my question to you is, will you keep celebrating a day that Yahshua was not born on and has nothing to do with, or will you take the time to do your own research like I have and get to the heart of the matter.

first off, December 25 is not the birthdate of other gods, it was the solstice (23) which was the pagan festival people associate with the corruption of xmas. The reason it all got messed up was because of the adoption of the Gregorian calendar too. Even if we know the exact date of Yeshua' birth, it doesn't mean we have to celebrate it then. YHVH NEVER commanded we observe His birth.
It's a season of remembrance and preparation for our souls. Think of it this way, our new year is Jan. 1, but the Jewish new year is different and so is the chinese new year. does that mean those traditions are now all evil? No we use them as a marker for time in our lives; as a day to stop the chaos, pause, and re-evaluate our choices! That's what advent is all about, I am trying to focus on the Lord and His coming (both in the past and in the years to come) and I can do that on ANY day of the year. You know why? Because Yeshua died once for my sins. The OT, while it's great to observe for the love of Adonai, does jack now. It cannot justify me, it cannot save me. I can celebrate Christmas on april 2, july 18, or dec. 25 and guess what? I'll still be saved.
What if my birthday was on the date of a Hindu holiday? Is it now illegal and evil to remember the day I was born? I went through this phase a few years ago. I condemned all things pagan, but it passes. Because in time, you forget Yeshua and his sacrifice and you become obsessed with doctrines.

Mithra of Persia, Horus of Egypt, and Buddha share the birthdate of 12/25 or so sources claim, hence the reason I wrote what I did.
Actually I am not becoming obsessed with doctrines, just that my eyes are being opened as He leads on various subjects.
And this isn't a phase.
But I am used to having other Christians tell me that.
When I was convicted of modest dress and not wearing any make up or jewelry, I was told it was a phase. That was in 2001. Still modest, no makeup or jewelry and it's almost 2010.
When YHWH called me to cover and go Plain, Christians sneered at me and told me it wouldn't last.
That was in 2006.
Here I am 4 years later.

If you read your Bible, you will see Yah instituted his own calendar system from the beginning, and it was changed after Yeshua's birth. And he fortells of a time when men will be so evil, they will try to play G-d by changing times and seasons via antichrist (Daniel 7).
It is completely different when something started out as benign and was made evil. That's not what we're talking about here. Something was begun as evil and then adopted by the church as a compromise. We are not to learn the way of the pagan or offer strange fire.
There is a ministry called Ascension Ministris by Norm Franz. He goes through the historical aspects of the holidays as well as their prophetic sugnificance. I recommend the Mystery of Christmas. Unlike a lot of other ministers, he uses citation and points to secular evidence of these things as well (if the world claims they embrace it, who are you to say they don't?).
It is right to focus on the L-rd, but in HIS time and HIS way. He must be worshipped in spirit and in TRUTH. You only forget his sacrifice when you abandon HIS sabbaths.
The Bible also fortells of a time at the end when his spirit will be poured out and people will turn back to the W-rd, while others fall into traditions and apostasy. Which of those is the foundation of X-mas?

I don't know if you have any interest, but my husband brought home an interesting DVD. I am sure you can find it online (maybe even watch it online) or at your local library (maybe a video store). It's called "The Star of Bethelhem". You can go to the website www.bethlehemstar.net. The man is an attorney and his daughter wanted a Christmas display on their front lawn. She wanted the Magi and the star. He started to wonder about the star and it took him into an intense study on the star that God sent to light the way. He has an interesting take on the probable actual birth date of Yeshua.

Dawn, you had a comment on simple living alaska and that is how I found your site. My husband and I have been digging into this for nearly two years now. Tons of the information I got was from the History Channel's website. If anyone has doubts about the origins of Christmas and wants to get information from a secular source, it's there. I'm saying this because we keep getting told that we get our information from only certain people with these beliefs. We are still doing Christmas this year, traditions and memories are hard to break. Please pray for us. We've heard it all, too. We have been actually told by a pastor that we were getting to legalistic. Our family tells us "it's just a phase", too. Dawn, thank you for sharing these things with us. We don't do television either! It came up when I googled "origin of Christmas". I looked this year and they actually changed it. It seems like last year The History Channel gave a lot more information on this subject. Anyway, thanks again for your blog, it really causes me to think and THAT is a good thing.
I also have recently believed as you do. about the same time .I don't like what people believe (most in ignorance)Christmas is pagan and it has been years with me as well. I also was called to cover and dress really modestly. I get alot of grief over this but I am still doing it also. Dawn, the faith of Christians doesn't stand or fall according to the date Christmas is celebrated. Talk about straining at gnats! lol In Australia we celebrate Queen Elizabeth's birthday in June when her real birthday is in May I think and other countries celebrate her birthday at other times. Just because her official birthday is celebrated at a different time to her real birthday doesn't mean that the monarchy will collapse! lol
