What has Yahweh been dealing with you on lately?

Any certain topics you care to share? How are you going about researching these topics?
My mind is a merry-go-round and on each of those little horses is a topic...around and around the carousel turns...
And yet I can't just pick one topic, I want to do them all at once and cause myself a mental mass confusion breakdown...lol.
I am just really excited about this new venture He has me on. I feel like when I first got saved. Everything was new, fresh, invigorating. That's how I feel now exploring these topics.
I have dumped my brain of all the church dogmas, man made traditions, doctrines, rules, regulations, and all the formals of modern day churchianity and have said to Yahweh 'here I am, reveal yourself to me. Show me what Your Word means'. He will reveal Himself to the open and willing hearts.
One doesn't have to have a degree in theology to have the Holy Spirit reveal the Truth.
So far, the current topics I have been led to dig deeper in are:
* The pagan origin of Christmas
* Saturday vs. Sunday Sabbath
*What we are allowed and not allowed to do on the Sabbath according to the Bible.
*Tithing
*Musical Instruments in the church
* Yahweh vs. God, Yeshua vs. Jesus
* Christians participating in war
* Pledging allegiance to the flag
I tell you, I am just bouncing off the walls and can't wait to get started on this journey.
I bought a binder, hole puncher, and some divider folders to keep track of things I find online, books, magazines, ect, all helping me on this journey. I look forward to filling it up. :-)
I will of course share things as I go about this journey with you all, hence the reason I asked you what Yahweh is dealing with you on. We can go about this together. :-)
Well Monday wifely duties call so I must be going.
You my friends, please be safe this week. And begin your day's praising His glorious name <><

Your excitement, excites me! It is an amazing journey indeed! I look forward to reading what Yahweh is revealing to you! In fact He should be revealing lots to us (His own) on a daily basis, if not we should be asking the question why? Great post! Thanks

Should Christians pledge alliance to the flag?

I'm leaning towards no. I have a lot of questions, but I'm just throwing that one out there. I was thinking about it last week. I'm pretty convicted about being anti-war, I just wonder why so many Christians aren't yet.

Have you ever thought about taking a class on the Bible? Maybe from the same college your husband goes to or a local Bible college? Maybe not even one from a religious perspective, but one from a historical perspective. That might be interesting to you. There may even be something offered online.

Oh I started a blog. It probably won't be much, just pictures mostly.

That's another thing my mind has thrown around...the pledge of allegiance.
I pledge allegiance to Yahweh in Heaven, not a flag on a pole. (...I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America).

Also.. (one nation under God)...yeah well, our nation has removed God from pretty much everything, so we are not one nation under God, maybe it's times past the US used to be.

We should put our hands over our hearts and pledge allegiance to the One whom we live for, to the One whom we would die for if it came to that.

Now that's not saying that I don't support the troops and all that stuff...for crying out loud, I am an Army wife. I support the troops and their family, because I have been there, done that already.
The US would be in a lot more hurt if our troops weren't in Kuwait and Iraq protecting us and for that, we can never give enough thanks to them.

I too am convicted about being anti war as well...maybe I will add these 2 topics to my list...thank you for reminding me.
I guess I should have written them down sooner instead of trying to remember everything. :-)

Blessings!

Ah I knew your interest in the roots of Christianity would lead you here. When I first looked into Judaism (Since Yeshua was a jew) my messianic network warned me about Christmas. I already keep the Saturday sabbath because that is 100% from the bible, however holidays are touchy. I never saw Christmas as pagan and now when people tell me it's wrong to celebrate the one day that unites Christians all over the world, I get irritated. I would love to hear your study on this because I have been torn for years...and I'm only 17 haha so I feel like I need to settle this once and for all.

What a wonderful journey to be on and learning the difference between mans traditions and what are God's leadings for us are often times, polar oppostites.
Imagine yourself reading only the words in red in the bible, the only words you had are the words of Christ, nothing more and nothing less and you will find He said it all for us. Go where those words lead you and you will be just fine. If His words are not enough to lead us on the right road, then we need to rethink a lot of things. I believe you will find all you need to know, in how He has told us to live.

Christians have fought battles long before America was taken over by Europeans. Is anybody really pro-war, or are they pro-freedom? I was a Marine but, never held the tile of pro-war!The Lord leads us all on different paths and some have their ministry in the Military, beyond being a Chaplin who btw~ as you know are not under arms.

When I say I am anti-war, I mean I am anti the Iraq war and do not believe it has anything to do with our freedom.

I think we should all know what we believe and why we believe. I look forward to you sharing what you discover.

I also have been looking into the whole christmas thing, tree, gifts, etc. Is it ok? Also about tithing, are we to give it to a church? what is the tithe to be used for? what if you don't belong to a church or are deciding on a home church where or who do you pay a tithe to in the mean time?? what if you don't work but recieve child support are you to tithe off that?

Wow Dawn...I'm so excited to hear I'm not the only one that the Lord has been dealing with these issues with lately!

I too have been thinking more on the commandment to keep the Sabbath. I read Renee Ellison's apologetic on it and it was very insightful and helpful. It's here if you are interested...http://crossover.ellison.net/HomeHowTo.html#59 - it's free as an e-book. I am currently praying as to how to approach dear hubby about this to allow the children and I to observe if he doesn't want to. It definitely is counter-cultural in these days of self pursuit of pleasure on "our" weekends!

Also the Lord has been dealing with me on violence in protecting ourselves. I'm really having a hard time with that as my hubby is all about shooting to kill if need be! I just don't know if I can, not because I'm necessarily scared to shoot. But I know where I'm going if I die...could I kill someone (even if they were trying to hurt me or my family) if I knew they would go to hell? I just don't know? After reading Matthew lately and about turning the other cheek / being a peacemaker, etc. I'm having doubts!

Sorry for taking up your comment space...maybe I'll actually write about it on my blog :)

Good thoughts on the pledge & Christmas as well...we are still working through that! :)

5 blessings,

The best part about being a Christian is being able to grow and mature for Him. It may not always be pleasant. We will be stretched in ways that we never knew existed. We may lose friends over what God is doing to us, but in the end, it will all be worth it.

Dear one, the 1st thing to do is to seek Yahweh's face in the subjects you mentioned. Ask Him to help, guide and instruct you so you may know the Truth.

Take your Bible, a good Concordance (I love Strong's personally, but there are others out there to choose from), a good dictionary, a notebook, and pen or pencil.

Then with each subject you mentioned to me, begin finding the Bible verses with that subject in them. Write it down and go to the Concordance and see what the meanings of certain words are. Do that with each subject.

Yes, it's time consuming, but it really is worth it to know what you believe and where it's at in Yahweh's Word, right? :-D

You can look online for articles about the subjects you mentioned, but I will warn you, there are lots of pro and con articles out there that will just leave you in a state of confusion and frustration if you are not careful. Hence the reason I said to pray first and do your Bible studying before going into the uncharted territories of Internet land.

Yahweh be with you as you seek out your journey on this narrow road we walk on.

Hugs!

Meghann,

How neat that Yahweh is dealing with us both in certain areas! :-D

I'll tell you what, I am so excited on this new venture He has me on.

I have told my hubby a little bit about what He has been dealing with me on, but we don't normally talk about spiritual matters in our house because they always end up in a battle, but that's getting better. :-) However with this new thing Yahweh has me on, hubby just has raised an eyebrow to it and left me alone as usual to pursue my next adventure for Christ. :-)

Pray before approaching your hubby about Sabbath. Pray that his heart will be softened and tender to hear you out.

I am still researching that subject out (thanks for the article link by the way), among everything else I listed in the post and it's quite interesting where Yahweh leads, thats all I will say.

I feel the same way about the violence thing, like you said in the book of Matthew. And turning the other cheek...what about the Commandment that says 'do not kill'?
Like you said, 'I am ready to go if I get killed'. Me too dear sister, me too.
Violence with violence solves nothing.
But that subject is for another time as I haven't researched it all yet.

I look forward to seeing you grow more in Yahweh's Word.

Hugs!

Keep on the journey, Dawn! It is exciting to learn and grow. Even though sometimes we face up to things we didn't want to realize but what a joy to follow Jesus. I really agree with the Bible-concordance-notebook-pen. The way to know the God is to read what He has given us and all those writings are only finally what other people think. They may have lots of good but it all needs to go back and get screened by the WORD of God! God bless you! Excited for you on your journey!

Lord Jesus instructed His followers to use "Our Father, which art in Heaven."

Referring to the Father in Heaven as "Yahweh" is quite a move away from that father-image/family intimacy, which the Lord laid down His life to provide.
