Bible study-ish...

Tonight (Wednesday evening, just in case Blogger posts this on Thursday by accident), I had the opportunity to go to a Bible study at the Mennonite church. Well it was a Bible study-ish as for the month of September on Wednesday we have Brother James Martin from the Conservative Mennonite church in Scurry Texas come over and teach music.
The evening began with singing some hymns in English and Spanish (we sang the hymn 'Nothing But the Blood of Jesus' in Spanish and if you have never heard it sung Acapella, you are missing out...lol).
Then a Brother came and spoke on I Chronicles 16, vs. 8-11 and 23-36. I have had those highlighted in my Bible for awhile and they are such inspirational verses. In your spare time go ahead and review over them and it will renew your soul.
3 key things I got from this little message was this:
* The greatest offering we can bring to God is ourselves. (Oh so true, isn't it?)
* In verse 11 it talks about glorying and rejoicing in the Lord. We are to give that Glory to God.
*Also in verse 11 concerning rejoicing, we have much to rejoice about, as He is able to keep us out of the hand of the enemy! (HalleluYAH).
After the message we had a time of prayer requests.
Oh dear bloggers / readers of mine...please, please pray for the Byler family. Their young son, Jeremy was diagnosed with stage 2 Lymphoma. There was another name for it, it started with a 'T', but it pretty much is Lymphoma.
This family can use your prayers right now. I thank you so much as I know this family does.
I have yet to meet the Byler family.
After prayer, Brother James from the church in Scurry Texas came up and taught us music theory for an hour using the hymnal and his infinite musical knowledge.
I failed music theory in high school so this brought back memories of me sitting there scratching my head going 'huh...I don't get it...'. LOL. :-) I mean I know the FACE and EGBDV notes or whatever they are called but that's all I was able to grasp in school.
It was really neat though and we also sang a song in German.
After he was through we had a word of prayer and were released. I chatted with some of the ladies for a moment and then headed home.
I realized something while driving home on the expressway...Texas needs lights on them! I felt like I was back on the Autobahns in Germany with no lights and praying no animal runs in front of your car...lol.
Well it's almost midnight and I still need a shower.
Goodnight and God Bless You!
~ Dawn
P.S. 9/11 is upon us. Let's take a moment to remember those who have gone into Eternity and their family members.
It's hard to believe it's been 7 years already....
...and we still haven't caught Bin Laden. :-(

On a lighter note - I'm *thankful* for 9/11 as it's my husband's birthday! Not all 9/11 happenings are tragic......
