What a busy Friday!

Well, I am so glad it's the evening because it's been a long day!
It started out at 7 a.m. when Robert and I proceeded to drive to Lake Dallas (about 45 minutes from us) to go get our vehicle from the processing center. YES! You read that right, our car has finally arrived! Wooohoooo!
Getting to the processing center was easy, thanks to ummm, Yahoo Maps...no, it was MapQuest...or was it Google Maps??? Who knows, but we got there just fine. :-)
We got there a little too early and had to wait for an inspector to come and bring our car around after he took it for a wash.
He put our license plates on it from Germany (we are allowed to use those for 30 days), Robert signed some papers and we were off.
Robert stopped off to gas up the car and then we were headed home...or so we thought...
All was well and good till we ended up lost. I guess we missed a turn off somewhere because we were heading towards the Houston turn off...lol.
So we got off at this Dallas exit and it was the most scariest thing ever...lol. I wouldn't even call it the ghetto, more like lock your doors and lay low in the seat so you don't get killed type of Dallas area.
Once we got to a deemable safe area, we pulled in to a gas station and Robert asked for directions. The lady said it was 2 exits away.
So Robert suggested I lead the way this time as he says I am better with directions than him (yeah right).
So off in the rental car I go, took the 2nd exit and ended up lost and that's when me and Robert got split up.
I did a u-turn and waited to see if he was coming back, but he didn't, so well, I trooped on trying to find my way home.
I was on various freeways and exits for almost 2 hours until I finally found the exit I needed! Seriously...!!!!
You can laugh now...lol.
I wasn't stressed or anything in fact I rather enjoyed the ride, but wanted to get into town as I was getting hungry and dizzy and just wanted to get out of the car. :-)
Eventually I found my exit and got off and got some breakfast and went home to recooperate...lol.
Robert had to be to work at 10 a.m. and I guess he got there fine because they didn't call the cell phone asking where he was. Wish he would have called me to let me know he was alive though. :-)
After a few hours I MapQuested, Google Mapped and Yahoo mapped the way to find my church and which route would be easiest to take (it's amazing that all 3 of those sites had different directions) and figured I would go find my church so I could go to service on Saturday night.
Well it was really easy to find after I finally put gas in the car so it wasn't running on fumes anymore. :-)
Goodness people are so rude in this town. I was waiting in line in the car to get as and it was pretty packed and people just cut right in front of me. Gee thanks guys and gals!
I realized I wasn't going to be able to get gas at that spot so I drove around and the while praying that God would keep the car going and help me find another gas station...and He did.
The guy next to me kept staring at me in an uncomfortable way and I wasn't really paying attention to what I was doing and ended up putting Premium gas instead of Unleaded in the car. Oops.
Oh well, it filled it half way and I wanted out of there.
Then I continued on the way to find my church which I found with no problem and left to head back home.
Well the street was a one way street and there was construction everywhere and I got turned around.
So, I just kept turning left and figured I would eventually hit a major road and I did.
It was actually the street my house is off of...except this street extended all the way into another town. But I just followed that straight away and was home in no time.
Since Robert wasn't home from work yet, I ran to the nearest grocery store which was Kroger and picked up something for dinner and then went home to fix it up and that's when my knight and shining armor came through the door all achey and tired from being on his feet all day.
We talked about how I got lost in Dallas and how he didn't among other things.
After eating and getting the dishes done I ran out to get a bag of ice since we still haven't called about a water line hook up for our fridge.
Robert was bone tired and fell asleep around 8 p.m. and I just called and chatted with the Pastor's wife of the church whom is just a doll by the way and we talked for about 30 minutes. :-)
He and her husband are coming by tomorrow so we can meet. Yippee!!!
Robert is enjoying his job. They are training him to be the night manager and it's going well. The cool thing is is that at night he is allowed to bring home free bread and pastries, cookies before they close up. :-) He brought home some treats yesterday. :-)
It's so different seeing him in khaki pants and a tan Atlanta Bread Co shirt and hat. I am so used to seeing him in ACU's (Army uniform).
Well I want to get in the shower and do some devotions / Bible readings before joining Robert on our air matress out in the living room. :-)
I hope you all have a safe weekend! Begin this weekend praising our Lord and Saviour!
Your sister in Christ,
Dawn

Bless your heart Dawn! Just looking at the photo makes me nervous. I have gotten completely accustomed to country driving. We passed 2 cars today and laughed that it was a traffic jam for around here! LOL

Just take a few deep breaths and don't let it frazzle you. You'll be finding your way around before you know it.

Have a blessed day!

What a day ! I have been trying hard to change my schedule so we could get together on Monday, but Mei-Ling has to see the Doctor and since Melanie and Casi only have one car, I do lots of the driving to appointments when Casi is at work. The appointment is just after lunch, and its a 45 minute drive from here.
I so badly wanted to meet you on monday : (
I am hoping that some time you can come visit me at our home, so I could give you a homestead tour.
Hope it happens soon.

Hello Dawn! You know how you were saying that you wanted to send me some baby stuff ~ things I can't find over here etc. Well, normally I wouldn't take you up on the offer because shipping is sooo expensive but sometimes the US price + shipping is still way less then what I pay here!

Like I said, the main problem is that I cannot find generic brand baby things, just name brand baby things! I found an example for you of the crazy prices hahaha: I just checked the two "Newborn" size bottles I bought. Just clear plastic bottles, no frills... $14 !!!! Fourteen bucks for two measly plastic bottles and I think one whole nipple... AAAAGH!!!

But on a better note, I went around the farm and found several things that my darling husband can use to make baby stuff. We have thise wickedly sturdy 55 gallon drums made of thick plastic. He's cutting one in half and, bolting wooden rails on the inside, he's placing a wooden platform on the rails while I figure out a way to make a mattress. Viola! A perfect cradle annnnd ... after husband whips up a quick stand... a bassinet as well! All for free hahahahaha! We also found this black thick plastic tub from some kind of cow lick and it's PERFECT for a baby bath from like newborn to 18 months!! Thennnn, (it gets better!) we scoped out this sturdy metal crib that goes around the huge plastic tubs of treacle (magnesium for the cows when it's rainy because the grass loses magnesium and the cows get sick) and with a bit of chop-chop we'll have a perfect play pen! (It's exactly play pen size!!)

I'll let you know what else we find!! **HUGS** God bless!

How it sounds like Atlanta and Techwood Blvd. Tis good you are home quite safe and your car is your own again.

It is said that the freeways around Atlanta are the world's largest parking lot. Same too is said of I-4 in Orlando, FL

I am grateful to God for the blessing of quiet country life.

I just love a good Dallas Traffic story! ;-)

One time my mom and I were driving to East Texas for a family camping trip, and we were so busy talking we were almost in Houston before we noticed!

Love,

Kate.

Oh bless your heart! I have such a horrible sense of direction I would probably have wound up in Oklahoma. :)
