...And what day is it today????

I am always asking that question at least 10 times a day. And also "what's the date today? Oh it's the 7th...are you sure?"
These days have turned into whirlwinds and just flying right on by but it's sooooooo worth it and sooooo much fun. :-)
I still am awestruck that places and resturants are still open past 7 p.m....lol.
We passed Six Flags this evening on the way home from Wal-Mart and it was 10 p.m. and the rides were still going.
There were people in Wal-Mart, people on the road, lights everywhere, things open...it's just great! It's great to see life again.
Let's see if I can remember that past 48 hours and update you on that. Now it probably won't be everything as my brain is fried for today, but I will try to cover the basics :-)
* We opened a savings account and put a large amount of money in it to begin it.
* We bought a 5 piece kitchen table from Wal-Mart for $99. Paid in cash.
* We bought 2 matching dressers and a sofa from Ashley Furniture and got an awesome deal as everything in the store was 50% off for the July 4th holiday. Paid in cash. Will be delivered in 2 weeks.
* Got the electricity / water turned on in our house.
* Ate at Olive Garden. It just gets better everytime!
* Found 6 different Wal-Marts and went to them all.
* Found 4 different Targets and went to them all.
* Got lost on purpose and ended up in 2 nearby towns...Ft. Worth and Mansfield.
* Found out by a fellow woman at Target that there is an IKEA 45 minutes away.
* Had a Dairy Queen cookie dough blizzard which wasn't made right :-(
* Fogged the inside of our house for bugs (not that we saw any but we wanted to be safe).
* Got some seeds for our future garden (this is Robert's 'baby'....that's all he's been talking about is his garden and what he's going to grow).
* Ate at Don Pueblo...it was alright...Robert loved it.
* Ate at IHOP...yum yum...
* Went to go see Beverly (realtor) in her office but she wasn't there :-(
* Went to a few Dollar Tree's. Some were rather ghetto that's for sure...lol.
* Got little things for our house like cleaning supplies, eco friendly light bulbs, etc.
* Went to 2 comic book shops several times so DH could get his Yu-Gi-Oh card addiction taken care of.
....ummm...that's all I can remember...as I said, my brain cells are gone for the night...lol.
We still have too:
* go to the University so Robert can register for classes.
* get a decent vaacume cleaner.
* get Internet / phone set up. (We bought a TracFone from Wal-Mart the other day and it works great for us. We got the cheapest phone for $10 and thn bought a 60 minute phone card for $20, so for $30 you can't go wrong).
* figure out why only some of the lights work in our house (yes we tried the fuse box already and changed the light bulbs).
* wait and get our fridge and washer set up tommorow.
* order a non electric washing machine from Lehman's.
*call the moving company in Ft. Worth so we can set up a date when they can deliver our 'unaccompanied baggage'. It's been in Texas for several weeks already....
* call and see if our car is in.
* start visiting churches (NTCC and some conservative Mennonite churches for me, various Catholic churches for Robert).
* send out change of address cards (which were not easy to find by the way).
* get a slice of cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory.
* help Robert find a part time job.
* do laundry.
* bought a water filtration system for the kitchen and one of those fancy shower heads with all the bells and whistles from Bed, Bath and Beyond (did I mention I could spend all day there and lots of money?).
* get in touch with the HOA (home owners association...whomever they are and whereever they are).
....I think that's about it...right? Who knows...lol.
Well it's past midnight and I still need a shower. Robert is passed out snoring away in his clothes...lol.
I'll see you all tomorrow and let you know how that day goes!
God Bless You! And thanks so much for all the well wishes and 'welcome backs'!!!! You girls are too wonderful!!!
Hugs,
Dawn

What is IKEA? What is your husband going to study in college?

Congrats on getting so much done. You sound busy and productive.

IKEA is this wonderful home furnishings / build it yourself type store.
I had never heard of them till I was in Germany because they have them all over there. When I first walked in one, I was like 'wow'! Of course walking and shopping in an American one will be a much different expierance. :-)

Hubby will be studying animation and advertising in college.

~ Bev...oh yes...we pay everything with cash! We don't have a debit card and we have a credit card but don't use it that often.
Yesterday as we were standing in lines in multiple stores, we had to wait and wait and wait because someone's card wasn't working or some other dramatic thing.
People buying $13 or $20 of items! I mean, come on!!! Carry some cash for crying out loud! :-)
The total furniture price was a little under $1500 and we dropped $1500 in $100 bills and everyone was floored...lol...just like the cashier at Lowe's. :-)

Well I am off to begin our adventourous day today!

Blessings to all!

Welcome to Texas!! I haven't been by you blog in a long time, but re-found it through Anna at Veiled Glory. I've spent my entire live in Texas and love it...although the summer heat takes some getting use to! BTW, I'm down close to Hillsboro (down by Waco). Hope you enjoy Texas...sounds like you've been having fun.

That question is a permanent state of mind for me due to age; at least you can say you have jet lag, LOL.

We never really understand how blessed we are in the USA until we have had to live in another country.

God bless America!

I'm glad you're back in good old US of A safely! I laughed when I read you found 6 Walmarts and went to them all! I can relate, after being overseas, it's exciting to go to American stores and resteraunts!

Your new house is beautiful! Glad the trip went smoothly and you've been able to get alot accomplished!

I rarely if ever pick on anything, (and I hope you don't take offense) but I noticed that you chose to buy CFL lightbulbs - if I were you I'd do a little more research on them. Not only are they potentially dangerous but liberals in congress are trying to force everyone to use them all because of the made-up religion of global warming. For that very reason, I refuse to buy them - watch this video when you have time http://youtube.com/watch?v=e-LOtKIIKcg - the speaker, by the way, is Ted Poe, a Representative of Texas in Congress.

what fun ! The new girl scout thin mint blizzard is really good btw.
If you were near 6 flags, you were close to WHOLE FOODS, great health food. Ft worth is just a mere 30 miles from our home : )
I told the bishop at Grandview about you, when I was in their country store last week, so if you visit that mennonite church, they will know a bit about you already

Oh forgot to mention, IKEA has good swedish meatballs in their little restaurant. Very reasonable

I live not too far from Lehman's and LOVE to go there. We registered there for our wedding. If you ever get a chance to visit the store, call me first. You can stay with us!

I yearn for the time when stores and resturants were open past 5pm!! Scotland is like Germany, everything except the bars shut down by 5pm and that's that!
