Euro wide ladies retreat Feb. 1st - 3rd

Sandy, who is the above author of this book, was my ride to and from the ladies retreat. Sweet lady by the way. :-) Also a Pastor's wife at a German Baptist church in Koblenz Germany.

A building across from our hotel. It looks like a church but that's not what the sign said. Have no idea what it is but I liked it.

The 3 of us ladies that came from our church.
On your left is the Pastor's wife (Mary Garrison), in the middle is Terre (newly married as of January 2008) and yours truly.

Debi Pryde

Some more books I bought (I haven't even read the ones I bought last year at the retreat!)

Where the retreat was held.

Are you thirsty for the Lord? If not, why not come to the Living Water - Jesus Christ.

Me - Day 1

A banner in the church. How is your witness for Jesus Christ?

Another banner. How is your walk before the Lord? When was the last time you spent some real prayer time with Him? When was the last time you absorbed the Bible instead of skimmed through it? Our walk before the Lord is the only Bible some people will ever read. Make it count.

So, hello there. I have finally downloaded the pictures of the retreat. There were others but they came out blurry.

The theme of the retreat was 'The Lord is My Shepherd'. Is he your Shepherd? If not, you may know Him personally as yours today if want. Just ask.

Well on the 1st we checked into our hotel in Queidersbach. It was called the Sickinger Hotel. www.sickingerhof.de

Me, Mrs. Garrison and Terre shared a room of course. Me and Terre's room had 2 single beds, a desk, a nightstand, and closet. Mrs. Garrison's room had a double bed, desk, night stand and closet. There was a tiny bathroom and that was it. This was considered a suite in many German hotels.

So after we rested we all loaded up in the car and went off to the church to sign in and get our name tags and visit.

Dinner was served by a few gentlemen of the church. It was a choice of Shepherd's Pie or Lamb Stew with all the fixings of course. Mmmmm mmmm good...I love Shepherd's Pie! :-)

After dinner we had our first session with Debi Pryde www.debipryde.com

I forgot what it was on and even worse I forgot to take notes. I was so tired because I had hardly gotten any sleep in the past couple days so by 7 p.m. when this session started, I was rather out of it. But I listened. :-)

Mina Oglesby led us in worship and chatter. www.minao.com

She has such a wonderful spirit and personality and knows how to make you laugh and cry all at once...lol.

Friday morning we all met in the hotel seating area and had their continental breakfast. German breakfasts are different than American. German's mostly consist of meat, cheeses, breads, cereals, and vegetables, along with coffee, OJ and apple juice. I like it though.

After we ate we left for the church.

The missionary wives we in another room being taught by Debi and the rest of us members were with Mina. She taught on how to be a blessing and encouragement to our Pastor's wife. They go through so much that we can't even begin to imagine. It was really good..

Then we had a break and had another session with Debi with singing and prayer from Mina.

Lunch was served. It was catered by a local Mexican restraunt. I had vegetarian fajitas and rice. It was soooo good!!!!

Friday afternoon we had 2 workshops to attend. There were a couple to choose from. The first one I chose was by Sandy called 'He restoreth my soul'. It was good. We did a worksheet on it.

The second session I chose was by Dottie Lancaster (sweetest woman ever by the way) and it was titled 'Beside Still Waters: The Home That Refreshes'.

How is your home? What do people see when they walk in? Is your home a sweet haven to those who are in need of rest ir is it chaos and unorganized and loud?

When people walk into your home, do they walk into a big inviting hug?

Dottie is also a Pastor's wife. I believe her and her hubby Tom are with a Baptist church in Mannheim Germany.

Friday evening we had dinner...spaghetti with salad and rolls and tirmisu for dessert. Mmmmm mmmmm good I say!

Then we had our 3rd session with Debi and afterwards we had a song service with Mina. Oh that was a fun time! She is so witty!

Saturday morning we had a morning devotion with another Pastor's wife, Karen Craft. It was the most hilarious devotion ever but so much truth. Ladies, we cannot blame our homones on our attitudes and actions! We won't be able to stand before God when he asks why we said such and such or did such and such. We can't say 'well, God, I was PMSing' or 'well God, I was going through menopause'.

We must be on guard with our hearts and tongues always ladies.

After a break we had our last session with Debi and last prayer and song service with Mina.

And we were dismissed.

Now if you hadn't noticed, I pretty much paraphrased everything here, but you get the general idea of how things went. The last thing I want to do is sit here for 6 hours typing every minute detail...don't have time for that, I have a home to run, a man to take care of, people to pray for, chores to do. :-)

Oh, after we were dismissed on Saturday, we all were starving so Sandy stopped at McDonalds so we can get some chow. I bought my Pastor's wife her meal. I thought it would bless her.

I didn't get much sleep on this retreat. Mainly due to Fashing or however it's called. It's pretty much the German prespective of Mardi Gras...ugh....

Then I got a cold and cough on the 2nd day so I didn't get much sleep then either.

And if you have been reading my blog, you have seen I brought not only blessings home, but someone else's cooties as well as was sick for awhile.

But I am better now and am thankful for all who prayed and am thankful you were patient with me in getting this out so late.

I hate to run but I have laundry that needs to be folded and it's time to prep for dinner.

The Lord bless you!

P.S. I am sorry if all this runs together. I type it out in paragraphs but it doesn't come out that way. :-(

Oh wow! My internet is actually working...

What a fantastic post! I loved the pictures. I really miss going on ladies retreats and I thank God for Pluscarden Abbey because at least I can take personal retreats.

It looks like you had so much fun! And your plain dresses look fantastic - that's really truly "your style" and it suits you perfectly! GOD BLESS!!!
