It's been 5 years since I quit my job to heed the calling of being a keeper at home (Titus 2:5). I didn't leave a high paying job either. I worked at a Catholic school in the cafeteria and made $325 a month. Yep, you read that correctly. I also delivered newspapers which was a joke. Gosh I got ripped off from that, i really did.
In late 2002 the Lord kept bringing up Titus 2:5 and Psalm 113:9 among others and kept tugging at that lil' heart of mine.
I felt bad for leaving the head cook with the other assistant because this other assistant was useless, but I couldn't keep pushing off God.
I turned in my resignation some time in early January of 2003 and that was that.
I took that leap of faith when we had 3 or 4 of my husbands' college loans equaling about $30,000 if not more, I don't remember now...a credit card that was almost maxed out...a car payment (for our old car we had not the new one that was paid off in December)....regular bills and no savings at all.
I didn't know what I was doing but I said "God I trust you. I trust your Word".
At this time in January of 2003 I had been saved about a year and half so I was still a new babe in Christ learning...always learning. And eager to know more of the One who set me free!
At that time, my husband only made about $1400 after taxes and of course a big chunk of that went to all the debts we had to pay. But... we always paid our tithe first. We always gave God what rightfully is His anyway.
Here we are 5 years later. Our new car was paid off last month (that we bought in 2003), we haven't seen a college loan in 3 years, our credit card gets paid off every month (we like to use it because we get cash back) and we have close to $40,000 in the savings.
I am not telling you this to brag I am sharing with you how if you obey God and His Word and take that step of faith, He will keep you. He will protect you and He will provide for you.
Trust Him!
Psalm 113:9 ~ He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.
Titus 2:5 ~ To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed.
Over the past 5 years I have learned lots and lots of ways to save money and be more frugal. You can learn all kinds of stuff via the Internet and books. All it takes is a few minutes of your day to learn.
My husband's Commander asked him yesterday when we move to Texas if I was going to get a job. My beloved told him no, she is going to stay home. She is the manager of the home and makes sure everything is taken care of there. :) Awww....
I will still sell on eBay though. I have fun doing that.
So I just want to encourage you to take God at His Word!
Friday blessings to you all!

What a true post.
I had a lady tell me how nice my house looked. Then she said. "I guess it should be since you don't work or anything." I didn't say anything to her. Then Ray spoke up and informed her I work harder then she does. (they work together) She didn't say anything else till they went back to work. She was shocked by Rays responce and she didn't know it was because of him I stay home. She figured it was all me. LOL
I gave up defending why I stay home a long time ago. God has always supplied for us. The proof is the home we are in. We would never be in this house if it wasn't for God!
Have a great weekend!

Amen ! Staying home is best. I quit work 28 years ago and have never had one regret. We lived on one income, which was not always huge by any means and raised 4 children.
Thanks for the new years card : )
Praise God Sister! =0
I didn't know what I was doing but I said "God I trust you. I trust your Word".
OOH!! I got all tingly with that one!! I honestly think that's what He waits to hear from His children who - at last - heed is call!!
What a wonderful 'welcome home' anniversary post!!
Love & hugs.....
THANK YOU Dawn for sharing! That encouraged me greatly! We will be facing a one-income scenario in a few months and the debts are on my side so I feel guilty about wanting to quit working. Hubby fully supports me, though, so I have a goal to work towards. ;)

God is good to us and rightly to be praised. God bless you on the anniversary of your liberation.
There is a saying: The phrase "working mother" is redundant.
Happy Anniversary, Dawn. May the blessings continue as you fulfill your role as keeper of home.
God bless you~ Pearl
