~* Our Christmas Eve ~*

What a wonderful and blessed day we had today! It started out doing some last minute cleaning and Robert getting the turkey prepped and in the oven.
2 single soldiers, Melodie and Travis (they are in my husband's unit...Melodie was over for Thanksgiving) came over. Well my husband picked them up :-)
We didn't know Travis was coming until 30 minutes before beloved went to go get them. I didn't mind though. The more the merrier!!! No point in sitting in those stupid barracks if ya can go to someone's home, know what I mean?
We began "A Christmas Story" and the guys ran back to the store because beloved picked up self rising flour and I needed all purpose so they did that and Melodie and I began the side dishes while the turkey still cooked.
When they returned we finished the movie and dinner was all done.
Robert prayed over our food and then we feasted on turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, green bean casserole, and biscuits. :-) Mmmmm :-)
Then when we couldn't move anymore we plopped down and watched "Christmas With The Kranks" since Melodie and Travis never seen it. They loved it.
Midway between the movie we paused and had dessert....Oreo Pie. Ugh...too much food...LOL.
Then we exchanged gifts!!!! We got Travis a Planters peanuts thing and a Life Savers thing. (It was last minute as we didn't know he was going to come).
Melodie we stuffed a big stocking full of snacks for her barracks room which she loved.
Also filled a basket full of girly stuff like body wash, shampoo, lotion, etc. And got her some gourmet Belgium chocolate.
She gave me a scented Christmas tree candle which smells like berries. I love it.
Robert opened one present (it's a tradition for us to open one present on Christmas Eve and the rest Christmas day) and he opened a CD-ROM for the computer to put his drawings to life. :-)
After opening presents, we finished Christmas With The Kranks and then Robert took Melodie and Travis back to the barracks as they were going to go to a candlelight service on base later on. They both said they had an awesome time, esp. Melodie. I think she was suprised about the gifts. :-) Hey, I used to be a single soldier before, so, I know what it's like. :-)
While Robert was driving them back, I did the dessert dishes and just relaxed and reflected on the day. It was truly awesome!
Tomorrow morning Robert and I will open presents and relax. Our friend Tony is coming over and we will exchange gifts with him.
We plan on making a turkey soup with the leftovers.
Well my Blogger family...I need to close here...get in the shower and to bed so Santa will come :-) I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!!!!
Love,
Dawn

Sounds like you had a wonderful time.

We did all our Christmas stuff yesterday. Ray has to be back at work Wednesday morning and he loves to play with the kids and there gifts. This gives them all extra time. Plus it made the kids happy. LOL

We even did our big meal. So today is left over day and hanging out with dad.

We are going to drive around tonight to look at the light. I love doing that. We will have to take you to the Praire Light next year. It's a drive thru light show the city does.

You have a wonderful day.
Take care
Love Ya

Merry Christmas to you and your hubby. It sounds like you had the perfect time together with friends.

We normally do breakfast and everyone comes to our house to see the kids open their gifts. Works great because everyone is out of our house by lunch time and then we can hang out and enjoy alone time with the kids.

God bless you for the Christian hospitality you have shown to those away from home. Tis a beautiful expression of your faith in Jesus.

Those snow-covered trees are stunning!

Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas :) Enjoy your time over there in Germany. It goes by all too quick. My hubby is Air Force and we were stationed at Aviano AB in Italy and it went by so, so fast. Also, remember to get things for yourself before you PCS. We always bought for others back in the States.....and when we PCS'd back here.......we realized that we didn't have a lot of Italian things ourself. LOL Ah, live and learn...right? LOL Have a wonderful New Year!
