Well, I was in Florida May 25th - June 11th. Even though I am sure mom and I drove each other nuts a few times, I just prayed thru and asked God to help me cope...LOL. It worked!
I spent most of my time with Nancy which was just like old times, except this time with her son Michael. Michael didn't get in our way of having fun though. At 5 months old, he didn't have a choice to tag along with us to the mall, WalMart, Target, ice cream place, and so on. :)
I did alot of running around with mom as well. Just going to stores and out to eat, you know, basic things I can't do here in Germany...LOL. Well I can, but it's not the same as being in America. I don't go out to the restraunts here though because everyone smokes and it's just so gross. And once in a blue moon I will shop on the German economy but the exchange rate between a euro and dollar is ridiculous so I just either buy online or save my money.
Anyway, I got to see my brother Dave every now and then too. :)
I got my 2 cape dresses that I ordered, while I was in FL, from this Christian woman online. And they fit but were a little tight in the arms. I mean, I can wear them, they are just a little tight in the upper arms is all. You know what that means...lose weight! That shouldn't be too hard though as we don't have air conditioning here in the housing units on base and it's starting to heat up here, so I should drop a few pounds this summer.
I did many many stares from people in Florida, especially from children. You would think I was a monster! LOL. I guess folks are used to seeing women in tank tops and bikinis in Florida. Oh well.
I didn't see any other covered woman there...however in the Atlanta airport on the 25th I seen a modestly dressed woman wearing a black snood and also a Mennonite woman in a red cape dress and white kapp. :)
On on of the days I was in the car with mom she was like "do you always wear your hair up and covered"? And I said "yes, it's what the Lord has placed on my heart to do" And her reply was "yeah right"...LOL. I told her it was biblical, and she was like "whatever". This coming from a woman who doesn't even own a Bible and who has never read it! LOL.
I am just happy she didn't make a big fuss out of it and actually took pictures with me this year...LOL.
One day while we were in Venice FL we were at this store called "Tuesday Morning" and I was paying for some CD's and the cashier was like "are you a nun?" My mom chuckled and I kindly said "no, I am a Christian who wears the headcovering".
Robert had made me a wish list of everything he wanted me to get while there and I got as much as I could fit in a carry on bag...LOL.
I got some new plain colored t-shirts at KMART and one at WalMart. I needed some new ones to go along with my skirts.
Our wedding anniversary is June 18th. We will be married 6 years. Mom got Robert 3 things and I got him 2 things.
So, yeah, lots of eating out and shopping and meeting friends for a day...that was what I did! LOL.
Oh I found the DVD set "Christy" at Wally World. I have the book and loved it so I spent a good 2 days watching the series! I loved it!!!! Have any of you seen it??
I also bought 4 DVD's from the "Love Comes Softly" series by Janette Oke. I know she has books out and I have never read them but when I saw the DVD's and how they were based on an older time period, I grabbed them all! They were like $10 each at Wally World. I enjoyed those too. I love old fashioned living!!!!
I got a few books and CD's at the Christian bookstore. But you want to know where I found the best gospel CD's??? Dollar General! They were $2 each and I love them better then the ones I spent $18 on at the bookstore! :)
So, that was a little peak into my trip. Now I am back home in Germany, back to cleaning, cooking, and all that fun wifely stuff. :)
God Bless You!!!! Hope the month of June is going good for all of you!!!!

Hey where have you been hiding! I'd almost think we were sisters hahahaha! I'm basically doing the same thing: seeking a plain lifestyle. I'm not Amish, I'm Catholic but I don't think a plain life is limited to certain types of christians. It's for everyone!! I'm very alone up here in Scotland though (I'm American) because there aren't many churches left here. I have my Catholic church sure but they don't seem to fellowship much. I've not often found much outside-of-church fellowship as a Catholic and I don't know why that is. I've always had LOTS of christian friends from several churches and I miss having that kind of companionship. So I haunt blogs for fellowship hahahahaa!! Look what my life has come to! *wink*
GOD BLESS!!

Oh I forgot to mention: when I was back home in America my Aunt asked me, "Are you afraid of your hair?" My mom would ask the same kinds of questions too - "Why do you wear dresses and skirts? Are you afraid of pants?" Afraid of my hair??? I never can understand why people think you are mentally ill if you wear modest clothes!!
Here in Orkney some people can be very rude. I've had children AND THEIR MOTHERS laugh right at me in public. I'd never even think of being so rude to another person. It just blows me away.
I had no idea that there were DVD's from the "Love Comes Softly" series! I love that series! Were they good?? I know how you feel about shopping and eathing out and just basically everything - it's totally not like America in so many frustrating ways. I was in the Navy and stationed in Sicily and although I loved Sicily I was always picturing in my head the many things I could so easily get in America and couldn't get in Italy! It's the same here. Plus the British pound is waaaay more powerful then the dollar.
GOD BLESS!
Oh Don't mind people asking Questions like that. If You was a nun why would you be married in the first place and also just wearing lighted colored things? I am old fashioned myself and I like the old fashioned styles of wearing clothes then this modern wicked culture we live in. I am glad your going along what the Bible says about covering and follow what you will please the Lord. Take care
Sounds like when my sister comes home from Venezuela. She always has so much shopping to do for everyone! She also had to purchase 4 years worth of school curriculum for 4 children!!! Glad you had a good time in the USA. I LOVE Tuesday Morning! This post reminded me I haven't been there in awhile! Must go!
Michelle~
I know who you are...we are on a few of the Yahoo groups together :)
I have been a silent reader of your blog for a few weeks now. And when you were about to give it up, I was like "noooooooo don't". You always have so much to say...I am boring...LOL.
I was born and raised Catholic...then I got saved in 2001 and never looked back. My husband is Catholic so you can imagine the debates that go on about Christianity / Religion.
Afraid of your hair and pants? LOL. That made me chukle!!! Family members are funny. :) God Bless them!
I was in the Army...but ummm...I would like to not remember those days...LOL. Nah, they weren't too bad...LOL.
The Euro here is worth more than the dollar here in Germany. It's so sad.
To you other 2 lovely bloggers...a big hello goes out to you and thanks for stopping by my place! I never realized people actually read this blog...LOL. But I am glad you did!
Many hugs to all of you! And thank you for your encouragment!
Wow where did you find a KJV with the apyocrypha??
I found it when I was living in Oklahoma at a store called Hastings. It's a red book and on the front in white letters it says "KJV Apocrypha". If you are interested in it, maybe go to that store's website or just Google around to find it. It's out there in cyber world somewhere. :)
Bless you!
Dawn, I just linked my main page to the health page on my profile if you want to see my main page. I am trying to keep out the trouble makers.
