Hello everybody!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend thus far. :-D
I'm just beyond overjoyed, grateful, content, & peaceful.
Why you ask? Because once again, I am able to partake of the body and blood of Christ.
Mind you when I was younger and mom dragged me to Mass, although I went through all the classes, learned all the right things to say and when to say them, I never really grasped that we were really taking the body & blood of Christ. She never talked about it, I didn't ask.
To me, it was just 'communion'.
Fast forward to my time in the Protestant / Fundamentalist churches. Of course most (not all) believe that the bread & grape juice (God forbid they actually use wine as they deem it sinful to take a sip. Yeah, like Yeshua / Jesus turned the water into grape juice at the wedding feast. I can't believe I used to believe that. There is a vast, HUGE difference in taking a sip of wine for communion and getting drunk).
But, even in these churches I think I only took communion once in my 10 years in them. Why? Because I knew it was a serious ordinance that God instituted and I knew if I took it unworthily or with sin in my life I was damning myself like it says in 1 Cor. 11. Communion wasn't often in these churches of course. Some only did it twice per year, others 4 times per year, others only 1 time per year.
Now, here I am, back in the Catholic Church with more Biblical knowledge on the Bible, what the Catholic Church believes & teaches and I SEE IT! :-D If it were any more clearly in the Scriptures, it could jump off the page and walk off. :-D
This is what I see, believe and am not ashamed to say it:
Matthew 26:26-28
And whilst they were at supper, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke: and gave to his disciples, and said: Take ye, and eat. This is my body.
And taking the chalice, he gave thanks, and gave to them, saying: Drink ye all of this. For this is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many unto remission of sins.
Mark 14:22-24
And whilst they were eating, Jesus took bread; and blessing, broke, and gave to them, and said: Take ye. This is my body.
And having taken the chalice, giving thanks, he gave it to them. And they all drank of it.
And he said to them: This is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many.
Luke 22:17-20
And having taken the chalice, he gave thanks, and said: Take, and divide it among you: For I say to you, that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, till the kingdom of God come. And taking bread, he gave thanks, and brake; and gave to them, saying: This is my body, which is given for you. Do this for a commemoration of me.
In like manner the chalice also, after he had supped, saying: This is the chalice, the new testament in my blood, which shall be shed for you.
John 6: 31-35, 48-59

One of the other reasons why I now see this precious Truth so clearly. Take a look there at the end of 1 Cor. 11, the last few verses of it. Why would we as partakers of something that is only a 'symbol' bring judgment / damnation upon ourselves if we take it unworthily? After all, isn't it just a piece of bread and grape juice? It has no power.
That is one reason why I believe He was talking literally and not using a figure of speech.
The other reason is in the end verses of John 6. The Jews are irate, mortified that Jesus told them that they must partake of His flesh and blood (vs.52).
In verse 66 many of His followers up and left and deserted Him because of His words.
These people wouldn't be irate and up 'n leave if Jesus was just talking symbolically. There would be no reason to forsake Him.

I try to get to daily Mass. Been trying to get there daily since I began attending in March. Once in a while I can't always make it, but I do make the effort. It's such nourishment, not only the Eucharist, but to see other devoted followers put everything aside and come to worship Him. No better way to start a morning or end a day then with a Mass. :-D

I am a traditional Catholic, who uses a head covering. My friends keep me well supplied with beautiful scarves and I love the ones with sparkles in them! So sometime I look a bit Muslim. I now have a number of Amish type Kapps and look a bit more Christian. One of the strange things that happened me was that when I was praying for guidance on 'covering' I distinctly heard Our Blessed Lord say, "So many of my brides no longer wear my veil, will you not make reparation for them." On your sparkles - remember how Jesus said to oil and perfume ones hair when fasting - so I guess sparkles are on the agenda. As for these Wyonna boys - I'm away to see what I have been missing all these years!!
